Case 1

Offender was walking down the street in Auckland city.  He picked up a parking meter and hit the victim in the face.  The offender was drunk and mistakenly thought the victim was coming after him.

The victim's wife is pregnant and he was concerned about how she would react.  He was supposed to be home earlier and felt disappointed that he had become involved in the incident!  He lost his front teeth and had to have painful dental surgery.

Apology and reparation offered and accepted.

 

Case 2

Offender assaulted his teenage children.

Offender saw tagging by his teenage son on furniture in the house.

The offender confronted his son and then lost control. He acknowledged this to his children and wife at the conference.
