The New Zealand Restorative Justice Practice Manual

This manual is a step by step guide to the restorative justice conference process. It has been used within New Zealand and internationally by governments and community groups to learn the conference model. It is an invaluable tool for trainees and experienced facilitators.

The New Zealand Government modelled their training on this manual in 2000. The manual is a guide for those with NO experience to prepare for, conduct and report on a restorative justice conference. The manual has a checklist of steps that are taken during the process. The manual allows us to share our experience as restorative justice facilitators with you. We are currently in the process of re-writing the manual.

Remember…the process is there to serve the victim. If the victim’s needs are addressed, the process will serve the offender and the community well.
